Using SMART Recorder in Notebook

You can use SMART Recorder to record all the activities that you perform on the Notebook software to create a lesson.

1st way to access SMART Recorder: Click once on the SMART Board icon on the desktop or on the area, and then select Recorder. SMART Recorder appears. A SMART Recorder icon appears in the notification area, just like this one.

2nd way to access SMART Recorder: To access it directly through the Notebook, you must first add it to the icon toolbar of the Notebook. Next to the keyboard button on the pen tray, is a button with an image of a mouse with the right button colored-in — this is the “right click” button. Now tap on the ICON Tool Bar (as if you are right-clicking on the tool bar) located under the menu bar, as shown here.

Then the tools menu will show up, as shown below. Now find the SMART Recorder icon, press on it and drag it to the tool bar on the top. This will add a SMART Recorder icon directly to the tool bar for easy access.

With SMART Recorder, you can record the actions you take on the interactive screen. If you connect a microphone to your computer, you can record your narration.

After you create a recording, you can play the recording on any computer using SMART Video Player (To start SMART Video Player, press the SMART Board icon in the notification area, and then select Video Player.) or Windows Media Player, or you can share the recording with others!

Formatting Text

To type, you can also use the built-in keyboard by tapping the keyboard icon on the pen tray. It is just like typing on your smartphone with touch technology. Otherwise, you can always use your computer’s keyboard.

Formatting a text on the Notebook is just like formatting it in a word processing document. When you’re finished typing, minimize or close the built-in keyboard. To change the text, highlight it and then go to the text editor (font formatting tool bar) floating above the text box, as shown below. Now you can change fonts, font sizes, color of the font, etc.

Press the line button on the Icon Menu, as shown below. When the drop down menu appears, choose the line type of your choice and draw it where you want it.

Take advantage of the Shape Button on the Icon Menu to draw precise shapes on your page. Press the shape button on the Icon Menu, as shown below. When the drop down menu appears, choose the type of your shape of your choice and draw it where you want it on the page.
